Cotillo Lagos

Cotillo Lagos, also known as El Cotillo Lagoons, stands as the top flat-water kitesurfing destination in northern Fuerteventura. Kitesurfing is ideal during high and medium tides; low tide exposes a sandy bed scattered with rocks.

Northeast and north winds create the most favorable kitesurfing conditions. The lagoon’s natural protection from swells makes it a prime location for freestyle kitesurfing.

However, due to the lagoon’s modest size, El Cotillo Lagos can get crowded in the summer, particularly when strong winds are consistent. Surrounding volcanic rocks make the area risky and unsuitable for beginners.
