Wind and wave forecast available for the Fuerteventura main spots, updated every 6 hours : El Cotillo, the north shore, Corralejo, Puerto Lajas, Puerto del Rosario (Playa Blanca), Sotavento, Punta del Tigre, Cofete and La Pared.
Our forecasts are based on the GFS-model and the WW3-model of the American Weather Service (NOAA). Predictions are available in time steps of 3 hours for up to 7 days into the future. Forecasts are updated four times a day.
The default used units are knots for wind speed, meters and seconds for wave height and period. Arrows show the wind and wave directions.
The weather and tide forecasts are based on numeric models, without any official supervision,so that they don't meet the specific requirement of watersport, nor any other marine activity. It is the user's responsibility to ensure that the data is suitable for their intended purpose and also to check the real life conditions.
Specified wave height is for near shore open water. Breaking waves may often vary on the seashore and reefs. Local factors at each surf break change the real breaking wave height, such as the beach or reef profile, water depth, wind situation, etc...
Wind forecast may sometimes be not quite inaccurate : in some cases, the general weather situation may be so unstable, that no numerical weather models can anticipate the development of the weather conditions. In other cases, for some places and some wind directions, it's very difficult to include unusual landscape features and local thermal influences in numerical weather predictions. Only local surfers may know these peculiarities.
