One of Fuerteventura’s most famous beaches, Sotavento Beach is located in Pájara, south of Costa Calma. It is very long at around nine kilometres and comprises five smaller beaches: Risco del Paso, La Barca, Malnombre, Los Canarios and Mirador de Butihondo.

The coastal town of Tarajalejo, in the southeast of Fuerteventura – one of the Canary Islands – has a large bay, around 1400 metres long and 45 metres wide. A prominent rocky seabed protects the bay’s fine black sands, studded with pebbles, from the gentle waves.

You can access Tarajalejo beach by car or on the nº 1 bus

Five beautiful beaches located alongside each other have earned the title of “Las Grandes Playas” (The Big Beaches) of Corralejo. Characteristics they have in common include brilliant white sand, crystal-clear waters, gorgeous views, peaceful moderate waves and gentle breezes, making them some of the region’s most popular tourist destinations.

Tierra Dorada is a peaceful beach located in Pájara on the Jandía peninsula. This is the last region of Sotavento before Esquinzo de Butihondo begins, and its name means “golden land” – an apt description, given the colour of its sand.
