Puerto Lajas is a small town, three kilometres from the capital Puerto del Rosario. Its beach has a blue flag and its unique undersoil is made up of black stone, with black sand extending out to sea.

The beach is 700 metres long and is popular with locals and people from the surrounding areas. Here you can relax

, sunbathe, swim and do sports – especially kitesurfing, windsurfing, SUP, surfing, and sailing.

As this is still developing as a tourist area, there are only a few bars and restaurants on the beach and at the bottom of the bay. Visitors can bring their own food or sample the local cuisine and a few cocktails.

Many of the tourists here are sports enthusiasts (some of them living locally) who come to take advantage of the currents, winds and waves off Puerto Lajas.

The beach is not well-known among tourists to other cities, but provides an ideal place for a family trip. Facilities are good; showers, deckchairs, disabled access and even car parking are all available. There is also first aid equipment and lifeguards are on duty.
