Gran Tarajal: The Authentic Black Sand Beach

Gran Tarajal Beach is unique for its striking black sand which extends for approximately 1km. Depending on the tide, the beach extends to an average width of 90 meters. It is not very well known among tourists despite its characteristic black sand beach, perfect both for building sandcastles and for taking a dip in the sea. Gran Tarajal has earned a reputation as one of the island’s famous Blue Flag beaches due to its excellent conditions. This beach, nestled in an urban backdrop of picturesque buildings, homes and shops, is a favorite among families, seniors and couples for its unparalleled qualities and amenities.

Location

Gran Tarajal is the capital of the municipality of Tuineje and has a population of approximately 8,000 inhabitants. Located in the south-east of Fuerteventura, it is located near the port. Although it is less known among tourists, it enjoys considerable popularity among locals. The city itself is recognized for its authenticity and collective spirit. Its privileged location in the central-southern part of Fuerteventura makes it easily accessible both by car and public transport.
