The huge beach at Punta Prieta, better known as Flag Beach, is one of La Oliva’s most popular beaches. Its turquoise waters and bright white sand – 1300 metres long and over 300 metres wide – are located between Corralejo and the Riu hotels. It is easily reached on foot or by car from the neighbouring town.
Thanks to the protection from storms provided by Lobos
Island, Punta Prieta is the main spot on the north of the island for myriad nautical activities including
windsurfing, kitesurfing, surfing, SUP, bodyboarding, catamaran, kayaking and more.
There is also
Flag Beach Watersports Centre, where you can learn to sail and
hire equipment. However, care must be taken at low tide due to the rocks which protrude from the water. The beautiful
Flag Beach is a hit with sports enthusiasts, tourists, locals, and families with children alike – and further north,
naturists and nudists are also welcome.
It has two hammock areas where visitors can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, as well as a small beach bar just next to the surf school.
Without a doubt, this is one of the island’s most important and impressive beaches. Its spectacular views, thanks in part to the unique beauty of Lobos Island, make for a picturesque backdrop. It also offers boundless charm in the form of natural pools which form at low tide and where you can swim in total safety, and its circular volcanic rock formations which afford intimacy as well as protection on particularly windy days.
